Carnival 2010

Quite possibly one of the best days of my life.
From the mechanical bull, to the gladiator jousting, to the giant Pirates of the Caribbean inflatable obstacle course, to having the longest inflatable obstacle course in North America, and much more; it was a day to remember.
It was especially awesome to be in control of the mechanical bull. I felt like a God. Basically I just injured people all day :)
But the main highlight was chilling on the gladiator jousting thing. Basically two people stand on small elevated platforms over a bouncy castle and they have to try and knock each other off with these baton things. Sooo while people were fighting, council would all be bouncing around doing front and back flips, attacking each other, tanning, and provinding commentary to the audience as people fought.
Honestly our council is a family. We're all so tight with each other, despite what walk of life we come from. From the long talks afterschool, to the crying of laughter at meetings, to flashing my ass at all of you; I love you alllll :)

Pep Rally/I Love PIPS

So Tuesday we had our junior pep rally and it went quite well.
We divided to incorporate a school-wide sing-a-long to Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me".
Amazing would be an understatement.
But as always, we did musical chairs. Which got quite violent.
One of our pip kids came to play and confused it for freeze dance but people kept giving up their chairs for him anyway... well, some girls clearly didn't want to, but after awkward silence and booing from the entire crowd, they were to to get up. I can't believe anyone would want to look like a complete bitch by fighting a pip kid for a chair. Wow.
But anyways, he won. And the highlight of my life: For his prize, I gave him a tub full of double bubbles and ring pops. At the beginning and end of the pep rally we usually toss candy into the crowd. But instead of keeping his prize, he decided to disperse it all throughout the crowd. Nearly brought a tear to my eye. Just sayin. :')

Upwards and Onwards

Little Bo :)
Well, I've been afraid of changing 'cause I built my life around you

But time makes you bolder

I'm getting older, too
Well I'm getting older too

Waterloo Fire

This is sufficiently creepy considering I was just stressing over my decision even more. Hopefully no one was trapped. Apparently a diner, sushi place, and bank were burnt down.

That's Why I'm XO Proof DaDaDance Super Proof

Yes, I said that

And what are you going to do about it?
Oh, what's this I see, you're speechless?
It's not a loss for words bitch, it's you realizing the truth.
I'm never like this. But it's trashy scum like you that brings out that side in me.
And don't tell me it doesn't have to do with me and then start kissing my ass and saying I'm the only good thing she has going for her.
All my closest friends make up who I am. And if something makes up who I am then it is me.
Run along with your empty Corona's on a Tuesday morning and have another photoshoot to prove to the world how "fierce" you look desperate for attention you and your pathetic friends are. You're a disgrace to humanity.
We're in grade twelve. There shouldn't be all this drama. Besides, you're a fucking adult now, at least act the role.
Man I can't wait to see where some people are in 10 years..

Big Decisions

I've made up my mind and I'm definitely not going to McMaster or Queen's.
So it's either U of T, UW, or UWO.. Here's what I'm thinking:

University of Toronto - STG
Pros: Reputation, city life, live w/ pops (save money), keep in touch with my drama side & maybe attend some auditions in the city, nice campus, great networking, not too far from family and Mississauga friends
Cons: Pce social life, don't get the full university experience, notoriously difficult, city=distraction, marking curve

Waterloo
Pros: Perfect program (science & business joint w/ co-op = more opportunities, more time to make up my mind, work experience), tons of people going there, full university experience, no marking curve
Cons: Heavier on the pocket, don't get to finally live w/ dad, middle of Kansas, on-campus distractions, independence (am I ready?)

Western

Pros: Beautiful campus, great campus atmosphere, great uni experience, not known for being crazy difficult, tons of on-campus distractions (party school)
Cons:
Not as good a rep. for science programs (more business/arts-oriented), super expensive, don't get to finally live w/ dad, tons of on-campus distractions (party school), independence

Ughhh such a big decision I keep going back on.

Varekai

There are 2 months left of high school and its really starting to click in.
I've had a tendency lately to just stare at people & picture where I see them tomorrow.
It's kinda interesting to picture the way you see people today to your perception of them at the very beginning of things.
I've changed so much. We've all changed so much.
I'd probably call it a phenomenon.
I'm ready to leave.
I've been accepted for quite a while, learned what I needed to, and I know which friends I want to keep and which I'm ready to let go of.
It's funny how that works.. those tears and tight embraces from the classmate that'll soon fade into the background and be nothing but a memory. I think there's validity in me saying that I know who I want to hold on to. As much as you want to wake up to the same faces for the rest of your life, times change. I'll go left and you'll go right, and that's just how it is. As much as we instinctively and, perhaps, intuitively throw around that notorious "we'll chill soon" line at each other, most of us say it to be polite, and it retains a value no greater than that of a final goodbye. University will be a new stage in my life, bringing forth new changes, new faces, and new challenges. Whether I knew you since day 1 or met you somewhere along the way, it's those of you that have truly stuck by my side and have gone through the ups and downs with me that I'll hold on to. But communication is key, and wherever I decide to go, be it the city or southwest, with absence will come silence, and with silence the key is lost. I guess what happens, happens, and the only people worth holding onto are the one's who hold on.

Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

After bombing 1st semester, I knew I really had to step my game up for 2nd.
After a full term of late nights, missed calls, and perseverance; I finally pulled it off..
93 bitches :)
You really can pull great things off when you demand success and refuse to surrender to temptations that will blind you from your desires.

It Might As Well Be In Another Language

Harder and harder to read by the page,
This silence has got me confined to your cage.

I See It In The Way You Would Do

When no one else could ever get through
Holding back till I come around
Time and time again you wait for me to comin'
And did you really look my way?
Cause no one could've seen this coming
I would never let you down
If I was running backwards in full time.

Day of Silence

"Please understand my reasons for not speaking today. . .I believe that ending the silence is the first step towards fighting these injustices". In other words, light is darkness, white is black, yes is no, and vice versa...
So as you may or may not know, last Friday was the "Day of Silence", which is a "student-led action towards creating safer schools for all, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression". To start, before I perhaps offend anyone, I just want to say I have nothing against LGBQQTACDSFSFSEFD etc. people. I think people are made the way they are and ought to have the freedom to be who they are, so long as it does not harm anyone else.
But despite this, I can't help but cringe at the idea of this Day of Silence, which encourages others to "end the silence". By doing what exactly, you ask? Being silent, of course!
What the fuck kinda logic is that? Last time I checked, when people wanted to stand up for what they believe in and fight for their rights, they stood up and did something positive and productive to promote their right to freedom. I mean, on those pieces of papers that some [extremist] students will tape on themselves, it specifically says "I believe that ending the silence is the first step to fighting these injustices". Mann then what the fuck you duct-tapin' yo mouth for?! And don't tell me it's to stand silent with those who have also been silenced by homophobia. Your only just allowing the homophobe's actions to manifest its negative energy into your own actions.
Bottom line: I think anyone who abides by this cause is subconciously or deliberately craving attention [or avoiding an English presentation]. That masking tape isn't a good look. A strong, confident passion for freedom and the movement of your lips to fight for it is.

My Uplifting Sahaja Yoga Experience

So I had a pretty interesting experience today.
After realizing how boring Sherway is on a Friday night and shitdisturbing at Wal-Mart, we went over to Chapter's.
At the back of the store we noticed that there were 4 rows with several chairs in each row and people sitting to meditate.
Curious, we went over and noticed a sign that said they were offering a free introduction to Sahaja yoga.
It wasn't long before a woman asked me if I wanted to try.
Anyone who knows me well enough knows I'm about as spontaneous as it gets, so I instinctively took off my shoes and took a seat. She asked me to close my eyes, hold my hands at my sides, forget the world, and just be.
I felt her around me doing all kinds of things with her hands. Eventually, she asked me to raise my hands above my head and describe the differences in temperature in my body. I know it might have been psychological or whatever, but I honestly felt energy in my body moving up to my head, as it was supposed to. And for some reason, my left hand felt cooler than my left. Apparently, my hands were exactly where I was supposed to feel a difference in temperature, and based on which hand was cooler, she could "sense the inner-me". She constantly told me that how she was about to describe me had nothing to do with who I want to be, nor who I need to be, but instead who I was. She said, given that my left hand was cooler, and based on how I raised and moved my hand above my head that I was an emotional person, and a lot of my times is spent thinking. This deep connection with my emotions combined with my analytical nature causes me to be very observant when I first meet people, and a "tendency to try and soothe my surroundings". She said I was very composed and laid-back, and disliked overly chaotic situations. She also said that I often know the answers to things or the 'right' way to act, yet I often do the opposite of what my intuition tells me. Finally, she said that I struggle to portray what I think into my actions and get what I want.. which really creeped me out.
Honestly, I don't want to equate her to a psychic, but I was tripping out on how well she could read me. Even though I never externally portray the inner-me she described, I know it exists. She proceeded to show me how to balance that energy and "use my right hand more" (hold back the dirty mind), meaning translating my thoughts and desires into actions.
Apparently they have free classes once a week at a secluded room in Square One and downtown. I think I might just have to go again, it really affected the rest of the night for me and got me thinking.
I would get all hyped up about something like this.

Just having you here lying next to me;

It's the little things that cause a storm inside of me.

Trip Before The Line

Why is it that right before midterms I have to screw everything up?
I was doing amazing in data, got back our last test before midterms, and completely messed up.
Same goes for philosophy.. but at least I kinda deserved it since I pulled a presentation out of my ass at the last second.. which usually isn't a problem for me, but it was a group mark and some people don't bullshit as well as others.
I could've had a mid-90s average, meaning more money for school. I was so fucking close. But of course it has to fuck right up just before I get to the finish. Rough times. Let's pray calc and english can save me.

How the fucking fuck do you forget that you killed someone... and your own father at that?
And that's all while you marry your own mother.
King Lear was great but I don't know what the fuck this trash is.
Best part is that I have to read the whole play tonight since I've been a major loaft these past couple of days.
I can't wait until I'm done with this.

Hmmm

My birthday horoscope in the Toronto Star:

IF TODAY IS YOUR BIRTHDAY:
This year, you will choose to be with your friends. You also could become more civic-minded, and get involved in an important cause. Be careful not to spread yourself too thin. You revitalize through letting go and being with your friends. Learn to be more frugal. If you are single, a new relationship could come through a friend. If you are attached, the two of you need to have a solid friendship, as well. Treat each other as best friends more often. You can count on Aquarius.

You Look Like ___________

I decided to make a feature on the celebs I've been compared to since getting my haircut:

Yeah, I have the worst friends in the world. At least it'll avoid this comparison Carmen made at Blockbuster on the way to her house. Bitch. :/

You Won't Be Seventeen Forever

In less than 24 hours, I'm officially 18.
Most people think ages like 30, 40, 50 etc. are to be the most celebrated, but I think 18 ought to be in there somewhere.
I mean, it signifies the biggest transition to the story of your life. Your childhood chapters have officially come to and end. I'll wake up tomorrow with a blank page. Everything I say, I'm going to say with maturity. Everything I do, I'll do thinking twice. Everything I think, I'll think as an adult.
All the restrictions on my life, accommodations to others, and things left unsaid; I'll leave behind me. Sure being an adult comes with added responsibility and maturity, but that only means freedom follows with it.
I'm a free man, and so I'm free to choose. I can't wait to choose how I'll spend those long nights in the city, that job I love that'll get me that paycheck I deserve, and, most importantly, who I'll choose to surrender my heart to and love with everything I know love can give.
I'm ready.

Self-Fact #25

When I'm in a bad mood I either:
1) Work out
2) Clean
3) Do all of the above
Very Portuguese of me, I know. Most people will watch TV and binge, but I'll always feel the need to do something active. I had one of those days today.

Your Daily Dose of Inspiration

This is absolutely captivating. I'll never live my life the same way again.

Final Destination 4

Tonight is the night I almost died with a couple of friends.
We wanted to make a left onto Hurontario near JFK where there's the Hurontario and highway intersection and well, basically, it was dark out and we fully waited in the single lane that oncoming traffic coming out of the highway is supposed to go through. Never been in a car that backed up so fast in my life.
Gotta say, we had it coming. Bad street karma. From blasting punjab beats, to legit following people in residential areas to their houses to the point where they didn't come out of there cars, to panicking over Joey's "Final Destination" theory; it was a crazy, crazy night.
I feel even more intimidated about the idea of a G2. But hey, I'm 18 in 4 days and I'm G1-less. Nbd. :)

Pick 'Me' Up at 2:25

I just stumbled across a short passage I wrote for the teacher memos during our Real Me Campaign. I think some people in particular could really use it right now..

Mornings are different for everyone. Some of us eat breakfast, while some of us just wait until lunch. Some of us change into uniform, while some of us make the bad decision to break school rules. Some of us walk to school, while some of us just get a ride. But a similarity in the morning routines of many of us occurs the second we step in between Xavier’s walls. We leave the real us at the doorstep and pull a mask out of our backpacks along with our first period textbooks. We all have different reasons for putting on this mask. We may be fearful of the vicious judgments of others, or perhaps we’re still discovering who we are. We may do this to attract the attention of our schoolmates, or perhaps we have experienced scarring vulnerability that we feel must be concealed by this mask. But at 2:25 when we walk back out the doors, pick the real us back off the doorstep, and head home, many of us are oblivious to the fact that we’ve been disloyal to who we truly are- to the real me. With every word, every action, every hello, and every goodbye- we have essentially been putting on an act. If we do this enough, it becomes a habit- a habit that may haunt us for the rest of our lives.

Gratitude

20 More Days

Step outta the door and see Zara to my left, Much Music a block beside it, Starbucks around the corner along with the entire Queen Street shopping district, AGO 30 seconds directly to my right with U of T just a bit further up the road. Burrito Boys? Just a couple blocks away. Circa? 3 blocks. Eatons centre? 5 minute walk. The city life? All around me.

Can't fucking waitttttttttt.
